Kite Festival at the Chicago Botanic Garden
August 7 - August 8
In the open area near Evening Island, enjoy soaring stunt kite performances set to music by members of the Chicago Fire Kite Team and members of the Kite Society of Wisconsin & Illinois. The Chicago Fire Kite Team has been competing and demonstrating team sport kite ballet and precision since 1986. Invited to kite festivals around the world, they have flown in front of friendly crowds in England, France, Japan, and Canada as well as the United States.

Art at the Glen Town Center
August 7 - August 8
Discover over 200 juried artists in the heart of this dynamic lifestyle center in Glenview, an upscale collection of retail and restaurants located on the former site of the Glenview Naval Air Station. For all ages there is Art Fest Bingo, where kids can search the art festival for images to match on their bingo card. Throughout the weekend, live music entertains the crowds.

Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival

Since 1972, the City of Evanston has presented the annual Evanston Lakeshore Arts Festival. The festival takes place the first weekend in August on Evanston's stunning, historic lakefront.

Skokie's Backlot Bash
August 27 - August 29
A three-day summer tradition featuring live music on a main stage located on Oakton Avenue near the Village Hall and features continuous live music on a main stage, an amusement park/carnival, a classic auto show, a business expo and sidewalk sale, fun teen activities, food and beverages including a beer tent. The name "Backlot" pays tribute to downtown Skokie's heritage as a major silent film industry back lot set between 1907 and 1915.
