Evanston Historical Society celebrates the opening of the new exhibit, "Milestones and Memories: An Exhibit of Evanston History". Be among the first to explore the museum's exciting new hands-on exhibit about Evanston, the first exhibit in fifty years devoted to sharing an overview of the history of the city of Evanston. Nationally acclaimed storyteller Marilyn Price of Evanston will present stories illustrating Evanston history. Known for her impish sense of humor, Price uses handcrafted puppets and original scripts to illustrate history and lore. Tickets are $1 per person, and $5 maximum per family. A spectacular new sculpture, Shadow, has been installed at the Northshore Sculpture Park in Skokie. Created by award-winning artist Lucy Slivinski, Shadow is a large scale swallow's nest in a basket form which was made by using a variety of industrial materials including chains, steel wire, concrete, sisal and glass. The Northshore Sculpture Park showcases over 70 large-scale works of art throughout two miles of landscaped riverbank and combines outdoor recreation with the aesthetic and intellectual enjoyment of fine art. Come to the Illinois Governor's Conference on Tourism and you're your peers in the tourism industry and find out how to access these funds. The Conference is a vital industry event showcases the up-to-date trends for the travel and tourism industry and is a great place to network with tourism professionals.
